Course summary
Early years and primary teachers, teaching assistants and other classroom staff. Much of the course applies equally to teachers in the first years of secondary. No technical background needed, and nobody codes.
Most AI training for teachers is a tour of tools, and the tools change every few months. This course starts underneath them. Participants learn, in plain language, how AI models learn and produce answers, why they sound so confident, and why they sometimes get things wrong. With that understanding, teachers can predict when a tool will help and when it will mislead, whichever tools their school ends up using.
The course is built in two layers. The first is the part that lasts: how AI works, how to teach with it, how to keep children safe, and how to think critically about what it produces. The second is the part that changes: the tools and models themselves, refreshed before every course so participants always work with what is current.
It is hands-on throughout. Participants use AI on their own planning, resources and feedback, look at it from the child's side as well as the teacher's, and consider what it means for their school and for the futures their pupils are growing into. Each day ends with reflection, and the week ends with an action plan to take home.
The course starts with teachers' own use of AI, then shows how to bring it into lessons on the teacher's terms. This is teacher-mediated AI: in curated activities, the teacher chooses what AI is asked, checks what comes back and leads the discussion, so pupils see AI at work without needing their own accounts or devices. It is a low-risk way in for any school, and it keeps the teacher where they belong: in charge of the learning.
During the week, the group visits a local school to see how teachers in another European system are dealing with the same questions, and to compare notes with colleagues facing the same challenges.
