Course summary

This five-day course is designed for school staff and it aims to improve knowledge and understanding of approaches and practice from within the Swedish Education system in relation to outdoor learning. The course looks at how outdoor learning supports the development of a child as a whole and in particular how the use of a forest environment can promote personalised learning, social and emotional skills, cognitive development, and wellbeing to name a few. The course methodology encourages active participation, sharing of good practice and reflection of approaches used to improve the provision and the quality of education.

Cost: £1250 ( twin/shared accommodation)

The course includes:

  • 4 nights accommodation with breakfast in twin/shared rooms

  • Training and reflective sessions in the forest

  • Visits to local schools

  • 3 lunches and 3 evening meals as specified in the detailed programme.

What participants have said about this course

“It has been amazing! It’s the best course I’ve been on - it has been incredibly well organised, and has provided the perfect amount of professional development! I’ve absolutely loved it, especially being in the outdoors for the majority of the trip!”
Croydon, UK

The course was incredible from start to finish, so much better than anything I could imagine and I’ve come away with so much new knowledge.

Wales, UK

It was really great to be fully engaged with the school day and teaching rather than simply touring the schools, so we could appreciate the benefits that forest learning has for both students and teachers alike, and see how it actually works with different parts of the curriculum/age groups.
