This friendly, hands-on workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of acrylic painting, from preparing your surface to finishing a completed piece. Working on a primed panel, you’ll learn how to set up your workspace, build a strong underpainting, transfer or lightly draw your subject, and establish the first shapes and values with thinned paint.

Throughout the day we explore working in layers, using different brushes for specific effects, creating clean and controlled lines, managing lost and found edges, mixing and using colour with confidence, and applying washes for atmosphere and depth. We finish with simple guidance on varnishing and caring for your work.

No experience is needed — just enthusiasm. You’ll leave with new skills, a clearer understanding of acrylic techniques, and a finished or near-finished painting to take home, along with essential equipment such as some brushes and paint to continue your ‘new’ hobby.
