Course summary

The event provides an opportunity to discover how schools can build a stronger sense of community by bringing together learners, teachers, families and local partners. The course explores collaborative leadership, shared responsibility, student voice and inclusive practices that strengthen belonging, improve participation and support the success of every learner.

This course is designed to develop an understanding of how wellbeing and positive mental health impact on people’s emotional and intellectual growth (at all levels). Specifically, the course looks into the Spanish approach of the schools as a ‘Comunidaded de aprendizaje /Learning communities‘ and how schools use this to meet the needs of the children and their community. The course methodology encourages active participation, sharing of good practice and reflection of teaching methodologies applied in the classroom to improve the provision and the quality of childhood education in the participants’ own settings.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify practical ways to strengthen inclusion, belonging and participation across the school community.

  • Develop strategies for engaging students, families, teachers and community partners in school life.

  • Apply collaborative approaches to address barriers to learning and participation.

  • Introduce activities that promote student voice, cooperation and shared responsibility.

  • Explore whole-school approaches to diversity, equality and intercultural understanding.

  • Design an action plan to strengthen collaboration and inclusion within their school community.

Cost per person: £1350 ( twin/shared accommodation)

The course includes:

  • 4 nights in shared accommodation

  • Training and reflective sessions

  • Visits to local schools

  • A welcome reception with refreshments

  • 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 1 evening meals as specified in the detailed programme.
